What is Filiform Warts

They are the most harmful types of warts because of their location. Filliform warts typically grow in and around the eyelids and lip region. These warts look like protrusion of fingers form the skin. They also tend to grow faster than other warts. They also grow in different parts of the body.

Their positioning on the face causes significant emotional distress to the sufferer. However, they are non-cancerous and rarely cause complications. They are highly contagious and are caused by a strain of the HPV virus. They irritate and can give an itchy feeling.

The strains of the virus that causes warts are prevalent; almost everyone gets infected by them at one point or another. They typically invade the body through broken skin.

Once the wart evolves, it can last up to 2 years before it goes away.

Filiform warts Causes

The most common cause of wart is the HPV virus. But not everybody develops a mole despite exposure to the virus. The reason is the immune system. It is the weakened immune system that allows the infection to manifest itself in the form of a wart. The system can be weak because of age, diet, stress, or medication.

Having a cut or a scratch in the area that touches another person warts make it more likely that the mole will spread. You can get HPV from wet surfaces such as pool area or shared showers. Children are more prone to the virus because they keep on getting minor cuts or scratches.

There are hundreds of strains of the virus, but this wart is caused by HPV 1, HPV 2, HPV 27 and HPV 29 subtype of the virus. Though there is inoculation available for strains of the virus that causes cervical cancer in women, not all strains can be inoculated against.

The virus enters the body system and irritates keratinocytes stimulates the production of a protein called keratin, which manifests itself as a wart.

Immune System

Even if the virus has entered the body, it has to cross the barricade created by the immune system. People who are healthy, happy, and relatively fit would have an immune system with high barriers. It would prevent not only the HPV virus but viruses like Cold and flu to manifest itself.

On the other hand, those people whose immunity barriers are down because of stress, anemia, and diseases like HIV will find the virus overcoming the system. Children are also prey to this virus. Immunity can be boosted by practicing Yoga and meditation. It can also be improved by a host of foods like Indian Gooseberry (Amla).

Good habits like drinking in moderation, having a healthy weight, exercising regularly, eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables and washing your hands frequently and cooking of meals properly would also aid the immune system.

Poor Diet

Diet is an important part of the immune system. If your system comes in direct contact with refined sugars, caffeine and processed fats, it can cause an inflammatory response in the form of the secretion of histamine. A time may come when this overactive system can become exhausted. This will then fail to ward of infection and reduce overall effectiveness of the system, thus weakening other systems such as live, skin and digestive system, etc.

A food system devoid of micro-nutrients and vitamins can also create a host of diseases, which can further reduce immunity.

Stress is slated to be the number one killer in the coming decades. The reason is simple every time you have an episode of stress, your parasympathetic nervous system goes in the fight or flight mode. For it is a do or dies moment. It produces hormones like adrenaline, which for the time being increases your blood pressure, quickens your pulse, and forces your immune system into a hyperactive mode.

It generates more inflammatory chemicals your body will tend to focus on immediate emergency and in the process might ignore non-essential systems, like the digestive system.

These processes, in the long term, impacts every cell in the body. Controlling stress should be a priority in life. Daily practice of Yoga and meditation can help you manage stress. Laughing a bit, reading quality books, tuning in to good music are all stress relievers. So are pets such as dogs and cats.

Direct physical contact with the infected person can cause the virus to enter the body. The virus is contagious. Children in schools are exposed to much larger gatherings and are very susceptible to it. They can come home and further spread it. It is important to be careful about the surroundings you are in. That is why it is a good habit to wash your hands often.
It does not, however spread by sharing the toilet seats or touching door knobs.

The virus can be spread in moist areas like common showers and pool areas. Take necessary precautions like wearing a flip flop in the area. It can also be contacted by sharing items such as towels, clothes razors, and face cloths. So be careful to use them.

Symptoms Filiform Wart

Here are a few symptoms of the wart. It is difficult not to miss them. The first symptom would be rough skin caused by a protein called keratin. The skin can dry very easily, and the surface will feel ragged and uneven. There would be fleshy protrusions from the affected area, and even a pale growth can develop from the head of the wart. The area would also have clotted blood vessels appearing as small dark dots in the center.
There would also be associated itching. A word of caution though itching, can cause damage to the skin and would allow the HPV virus to linger on increasing the risk of contacting a secondary bacterial infection.
