Vitamin A

In this, vitamin A supplementation reduced the frequency of P. falciparum episodes. It happened to a greater extent which was recorded 30% (95% confidence interval). This took place on school children. Toward the end of the study, geometric mean parasite density was 36% lower in the vitamin A group than in the placebo group. At the same time, the proportion of children with spleen enlargement was reduced by 11%, although the difference was not significant. Finally, it was clear that children aged 12–36 months benefited the most.

Surprisingly, they had 35% fewer malaria attacks, 26% fewer enlarged spleens and a 68% reduction in parasite density.

Zinc

Indeed, zinc is effective for a variety of functions. It is also helpful in resistance to malaria. It includes production of IgG, inter-feron-γ, and tumor necrosis factor-α as well.

When placebo-controlled trial of zinc supplementation happened on preschool children in Papua New Guinea. It provided additional evidence for the role of zinc in malaria. In other words, the study showed that zinc supplementation reduced the frequency of health center attendance, due to P. falciparum malaria by 38%. In addition, a 69% reduction was notable for malaria episodes which accompanied high levels of parasitemia. This suggested that zinc may particularly protect against more severe malaria episodes.

Iron

But here we are talking about not to consume them because the absence of antioxidants makes the parasite more vulnerable to damage by oxygen radicals, which immune system produces. Several studies have proved that persons with lower plasma vitamin E levels, recover more quickly from clinical malaria.

By contrast, antioxidant, β-carotene, has strong free-radical properties and is nontoxic even at high doses. Surely, β-carotene may have a protective role in murine cerebral malaria in which oxygen radical—mediated damage plays a role. Concurrently, some human studies have indicated specific modulation of plasma β-carotene levels during infection.
